I had lot’s of fun at the Chapters Spectrum/Sunridge last night. No. Really. Although it is hard to qualify sitting still and smiling for four hours as fun, it is the people you meet that make it so. Like the 12 year old boy who asked very grown up questions about the writing process. He offered insights like, “I hear that, if you don’t like reading as a child, often you become more interested in books in your adult life.” Very true, I said. In fact, that happened to me.
And then there was the grizzled, smiling man who approached just as I was packing to leave. Somehow, with a few words, he made me believe that everything will be alright with the world. No reasoning involved. He just made me believe it.
Anyway, my next event is on Friday, November 29 at 7:30pm at Pages on Kensington in Calgary. I’ll be presenting a slide show from my trip and doing a reading. Author Stephen Legault will be there, too. And I have it on good authority that there will be free wine at the event. So come out if you can. There was some early speculation that there may not be enough interest to warrant an event. Let’s hope that’s incorrect.
